PLANET and ANLA agree not to merge at this time

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and the American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) have announced that they have decided not to proceed with plans to merge. The two organizations, however, intend to remain aligned in delivering services, expanding public outreach, and exerting political influence.

Newsweek’s Howard Fineman to speak at legislative event

Howard Fineman, Newsweek’s chief political correspondent and Washington bureau chief, will be the keynote speaker at PLANET’s upcoming Legislative Day on the Hill event, July 23–25, 2006, in Washington, D.C. Specialty Symposium returns to specialized-tracks format

PLANET’s Specialty Symposium, August 4–6, 2006, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will return to its popular format of four specialized tracks — design/build/installation, interior plantscaping, landscape management, and lawn care — each designed to hone in on attendees’ specific business areas. After a general session on learning to treat customers like precious commodities, participants will attend educational sessions with others in their own specialty group. A Plants at Work “Train the Trainer” session will be held at the PLANET Specialty Symposium. This session provides attendees with the opportunity to be trained as an AIA Continuing Education Units Provider. Participants will leave the training equipped with a binder full of tools to effectively reach architects in their region, including contact resources, full PowerPoint presentation, session handouts, and research studies.
