One means to achieve that goal is through a certification program that tests individuals against a national standard created by PLANET. Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) To achieve the CLP designation, a candidate must master a body of material on all aspects of operating a green industry business. The four-hour exam is divided into seven sections: Risk, Law, and Contracts; Human Resources; Production/Operation and Horticulture; Marketing; Leadership; Strategic Planning; and Corporate Financial Management. The candidate selects a specialty area (Maintenance, Installation, or Irrigation) and is judged on the skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks in that specialty.
