PLANET RELEASES CRYSTAL BALL REPORT #28 — MARKETING: INVENT YOUR FUTURE

HERNDON, Va., January 6, 2009 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announces the release of its newest publication, Crystal Ball Report #28 — Marketing: Invent Your Future. Each year, this report delves into a topic identified by PLANET’s Crystal Ball Committee as being significant to the green industry. The Crystal Ball Report — a book that shows green industry professionals how the topic is meaningful to their businesses — develops from that discussion. Ariens/Gravely and Lawn and Landscape magazine are the sponsors for Crystal Ball Report #28.

As the topic for Crystal Ball Report #28, the committee chose marketing and looked at today’s best practices to provide lawn care and landscape professionals with guidance for marketing into the future using blue ocean strategy. Essentially, “a blue ocean strategy says, ‘the only way to beat the competition is to stop trying to beat the competition.’” Counterintuitive? Yes. But, “as Blue Ocean Strategy suggests, when a business is operating in a competitive environment where customers are becoming increasingly demanding and competitors more savvy, the way a company markets its brand, products, and services can mean the difference between that company or its competitor getting the sale.”

In Crystal Ball Report #28, members will learn how to differentiate their business, who marketing’s key players are, what some of the top trends in marketing are, how to develop and measure their marketing plan, and how to take their marketing to the next level. Also included in the report are advice and recommendations from the Crystal Ball Committee.
