VOICES FOR CHANGE, HANDS IN SERVICE: PLANET’S LEGISLATIVE DAY AND RENEWAL & REMEMBRANCE

HERNDON, Va., April 7, 2008
— The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) urges all green industry professionals to gather in Washington, D.C., July 20–22, 2008, for Legislative Day on the Hill and Renewal & Remembrance at Arlington National and Historic Congressional Cemeteries. The registration deadline for this event, sponsored by Bayer Environmental Science, Husqvarna, and Syngenta, is July 11, 2008.

Legislative Day on the Hill gives green industry members an opportunity to visit the office of their representatives and senators to discuss issues of vital importance to the green industry. In preparation for their visit to the Hill on Tuesday, July 22, members will be briefed by political experts on key industry issues on Monday afternoon. Kicking off the briefings will be keynote speaker, Fred Barnes, a veteran political reporter and commentator, executive editor of The Weekly Standard, and one of the hosts of “The Beltway Boys” on the Fox News channel. Barnes, whose quick wit and invaluable insight stimulates audiences to consider the many changes affecting the nation’s political landscape, will offer “A Closer Look at Election 08.”

Green industry companies will also have the opportunity to help beautify some of the most cherished and hallowed ground in all of these United States — Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries. Representative Mark Kirk, (R-Ill.), named by Congressional Quarterly as one of the “28 Emerging Leaders in Congress,” will speak at the opening ceremony for Renewal & Remembrance.

Legislative Day on the Hill will be held at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel located at 480 L’Enfant Plaza, SW, in Washington D.C. To make reservations, call the hotel at (800) 635-5065 and ask for the PLANET group rate. To receive the $189 per night single/double occupancy rate, reservations must be booked by Friday, June 27, 2008.
