PLANET releases new Safety Tailgate Training Manual

HERNDON, Va., June 4, 2008
— The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is pleased to announce the release of its new Safety Tailgate Training Manual. Written by green industry safety specialist, Barbara Mulhern, this manual contains hundreds of safety tips and solutions to help companies take safety to an even higher level. Its checklist format provides brief, informal lessons that help work crews quickly and easily incorporate safety into their daily activities right at the job site.

With the Safety Tailgate Training Manual work crews can begin each job keenly aware of the precautions they should take. Each page, printed in English on one side and Spanish on the other, gives a comprehensive lesson on specific hazards associated with a task ranging from “Safe driving in poor weather conditions,” “Safe use of chain saws,” and “Tips for working safely around electricity” to “Tips to reduce your risk of heat illnesses,” how to “Be safe when operating zero-turn mowers,” and to “Be aware of the dangers of poisonous plants.” Three-hole punched for convenient storage, the paper each tailgate page is printed on is weatherproofed and durable enough to hold up in any environment.

This 36-page manual can be purchased for $35 (members) or $45 (nonmembers) at the PLANET Bookstore at LandcareNetwork.org or by calling (800) 293-5542. The publication sponsors are CNA and Caterpillar Customer Safety Services.

PLANET is the association of members who create and maintain the QUALITY OF LIFE in communities across America. With more than 4,200 member companies and affiliates, these firms and their employees represent more than 100,000 green industry professionals.
