This marks the third year that PLANET has participated in the event as part of PLANET’s alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Plans for this year’s DOL Safety Day, “Accident Prevention: It’s Everyone’s Job,” are being coordinated by OSHA and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration. The purpose of DOL Safety Day is to underscore the importance of daily vigilance and practice of safety procedures, at home and work, in support of the DOL’s efforts to prevent employee injuries and illnesses. The DOL is also focusing on safety and health precautions that employees can take at work, home, and in the community. Activities scheduled for this year’s Safety Day include presentations by U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda L. Solis and National Safety Council President and CEO Janet P. Froetscher as well as safety- and health-related exhibits and services.
