AEF SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE

HERNDON, Va., November 2, 2006 — The 2007 ALCA Educational Foundation (AEF) is pleased to announce the availability of the 2007 AEF scholarship applications. Each year, the AEF awards scholarships to students who are enrolled in landscape contracting and horticulture programs at two-year and four-year colleges and universities across the nation. These schools must have a Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) accredited landscape contracting/horticulture curriculum, be a PLANET student chapter member, or participate in PLANET’s Student Career Days. In 2006, AEF presented more than $39,500 in scholarships to 38 deserving students at PLANET’s Student Career Days event in Provo, Utah.

The 2007 scholarship applications are now available online at www.landcarenetwork.org. For consideration, applications must be submitted by December 1, 2006. The scholarships will be presented at PLANET’s Student Career Days, to be held March 29–April 1, 2007, at Michigan State University, in Lansing, Michigan.

The AEF was created to help fund the educational endeavors of dedicated students who are preparing to become future leaders of the green industry. These leaders of tomorrow will define the industry’s standards of professionalism and use their education to meet the challenges of the future.

The Foundation receives its funding through the generous support of individual landscape contractors, industry suppliers, and from the students themselves. This support is helping to lay a great foundation for the future of the industry.

For more information about the AEF scholarship program, please contact the Professional Landcare Network office at (800) 395-2522 or visit the PLANET Web site, www.landcarenetwork.org.

PLANET represents approximately 4,400 green industry service-provider companies and suppliers nationwide that specialize in lawn care, design/build/installation, interior plantscaping, and landscape management. These firms and their employees represent more than 100,000 green industry professionals.
