PLANET’S CALENDAR OF EVENTS

HERNDON, Va., November 2, 2006 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) ensures that the green industry will flourish by cultivating the personal, professional, and business growth of those who enhance the world’s landscapes. PLANET fulfills its mission by providing top-notch educational opportunities at events that are scheduled throughout the year. PLANET invites all green industry professionals to take part in the following events and to benefit from the training, networking, and resources that are essential to growing their businesses.

Executive Forum
February 15–18, 2007
Hyatt Regency Coconut Point
Bonita Springs, Florida
A three-day event designed for green industry company owners and managers, PLANET’s 2007 Executive Forum offers the unique opportunity to learn the principles of lean management through hands-on exercises, while collaborating with green industry executive peers. Featuring Elliott N. Weiss, Ph.D., of University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, this year’s forum will bring together academia, industry experts, and green industry peers. Attendees will learn how to minimize waste, maximize efficiency, and value customer relationships using lean tools. Forum also offers participants a chance to meet other top industry leaders while relaxing in the pristine beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Celebrate more than 30 years of successful Student Career Days (SCD) by joining PLANET at Michigan State University. In addition to the competitive events, PLANET’s Student Career Days offers future green industry employees the opportunity to network with potential employers and provides a forum for businesses to recruit tomorrow’s talent. Since 1977, SCD has grown to become the largest recruitment event in the industry, offering both recruiters and students a prime opportunity to further their future success.

Legislative Days and Renewal and Remembrance
July 15–17, 2007

Legislative Day on the Hill provides green industry professionals with an opportunity to unite and take a stand on Capitol Hill by discussing vital industry issues with legislators. The day before the Hill visits, attendees are invited to volunteer their skills and/or equipment for the “Renewal & Remembrance” project, a national community service effort to beautify Arlington National Cemetery and Historic Congressional Cemetery.

Specialty Symposium
August 24–26, 2007

The Specialty Symposium is designed to give both owners and managers an in-depth look at specific aspects of running a green industry business. This educational opportunity offers four separate tracks (lawn care, design/build/installation, interior plantscaping, and landscape management) that will cover the most critical topics and issues facing each segment of the green industry. Green industry professionals will lead the presentations and discussions, sharing their experiences and approaches to facing the changing business climate.

PLANET’s Green Industry Conference (GIC) features first-rate education and networking opportunities targeted specifically for green industry professionals. The GIC will be held in alliance with the GIE Expo, which showcases an expansive lineup of cutting-edge exhibits and product demonstrations.
