                                                              EDUCATION SESSIONS IN SPANISH
PROVE SUCCESSFUL AT GREEN INDUSTRY CONFERENCE

HERNDON, Va., November 15, 2006 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is pleased to announce that its education sessions in Spanish at the recent Green Industry Conference (GIC) were very successful.

Hispanic attendees at this year’s GIC in Columbus, Ohio were encouraged to take a more active leadership role in the green industry. Ed Correa, CLT, of Terra Landscaping says, “It is critical to mentor and motivate the Hispanic population in the green industry.”

Conference participants selected from a variety of sessions conducted in Spanish that were designed to meet the needs of Hispanic leaders in the green industry. Some of the topics featured in Spanish included the following sessions:

“Opportunities in the Green Industry for Hispanics” session was led by Correa. In this dynamic session, Correa discussed the abundant educational opportunities for the Hispanic community in the green industry. Attendees learned about the green industry’s future, the various careers and certifications available to them in the green industry, and the colleges and universities nationwide that offer courses in these careers.

“Survive and Thrive as a Landscape Supervisor” was led by Elias Godinez, CLT, of Pacific Landscape Management. Session attendees learned the importance of understanding the differences between American and Hispanic cultures and customs and how to use them to their advantage in increasing their businesses’ success.

“Confronting Conflict Head-On” revealed the most benefical tactics to resolve conflict. Seth Dechtman, of Marina Del Rey, California, led this session, and used his extensive experience to expose attendees to a wide range of techniques to help them become proactive when dealing with difficult situations.

Feliza Guerro, of Del Conte’s Landscaping, Inc., led the “Understanding Business Decisions” session. In this powerful session, Guerro discussed how to bridge the gap between employers and employees to achieve a successful, thriving corporate culture. Employees gained a broader understanding of the fundamental principles behind the most common business decisions made in the green industry and learned how to enhance their success within a company. Employers learned techniques to explain their business decisions in order to achieve the best results for their operations and company culture.

Those that attended the “Invisible Tools: Advanced Communication Skills for Managers” session explored new ways to communicate verbally and nonverbally — to ensure that their organizations’ objectives will be met successfully. Seth Dechtma, of Marina Del Ray, California, led this workshop and gave participants new communication techniques and strategies that will help them become more effective leaders in their companies.
