PLANET OFFERS CERTIFICATION EXAMS THROUGH COMPUTER TESTING CENTERS

HERNDON, Va., November 5, 2007 — The Professional Landcare Network’s (PLANET’s) International Certification Council (ICC) is pleased to announce that it has approved computer-based testing with LaserGrade testing centers for its Certified Landscape Technician-Interior (CLT-I), Certified Turf Professional-Cool Season Lawns (CTP-CSL), and Certified Ornamental Landscape Professional (COLP) certification programs. Computer testing for PLANET’s Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) designation will be offered in the near future.

PLANET International Certification Council Chair Joel Hafner, CLP, CLT, of Fine Earth Landscape Co. Inc., explains that testing centers were originally researched for the CLT-I test. “However, as a result of certification strategic planning,” he continues, “one of our conclusions was to develop programs that provide greater access to PLANET tests. These centers will provide us with further opportunities for expansion in certification programs, certified individuals, and industry recognition through critical mass.”

“It used to be very costly for us to send employees to get tested, but putting the exam in testing centers allowed us to send six employees in one week,” says Joe Kujawa, CLP, of Kujawa Enterprises, Inc. “Not only did we save all of the travel costs, it was more convenient for our team members and the results came very quickly.”

Each certification designation exam offered in the computer testing centers consists of two sections. The total testing time allowed for the two-section exam is four hours. If candidates are testing for only one section, two hours of testing time is allowed. Testing fees include PLANET’s registration fee and a LaserGrade testing center usage fee.
