PLANET HONORS ASSOCIATION PARTNER OF THE YEAR

HERNDON, Va., November 3, 2008 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is pleased to announce that the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) is the recipient of PLANET’s 2008 Association Partner of the Year Award. The award was presented by PLANET President Jason Cupp, CLP, at the recent Green Industry Conference Awards Banquet in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Association Partner of the Year Award honors PLANET state or regional association members for their significant contributions to the green industry within their states and regions, and nationally as members of PLANET.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Kristen Fefes, CAE, ALCC is a leader in promoting PLANET and its certification program. It partnered with PLANET to produce the Certified Landscape Technician-Exterior (CLT-E) study materials and was one of the first to administer the newly revised CLT-E test in June 2008. “ALCC has an engaged, experienced CLT committee, and they spent countless volunteer hours preparing for the new test,” says Fefes. “ALCC is also lucky to have a professional, dedicated staff who administers the test. They make this enormous task look easy.” ALCC also participated in the Employee Compensation Report and the Operating Cost Study surveys.

Active in both state and national politics, ALCC has been proactive in addressing state water issues and has taken the lead in bringing together a group of similar associations that face the same dilemma. On a national level, it has participated in PLANET’s Legislative Day on the Hill event, where participants spend a day with their state representatives on Capitol Hill to voice concerns on issues facing the green industry.
