PLANET LAUNCHES NEW COMMUNICATION TOOLKIT TO ADDRESS LAWN AND LANDSCAPE ISSUES

HERNDON, Va., December 2, 2008 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is pleased to introduce the Lawn and Landscape Issues Communication Toolkit, an online information center containing resources and Web sites related to timely green industry legislative issues. The toolkit is available in the Legislative Section of PLANET’s Web site, LandcareNetwork.org, and will be updated as additional material becomes available to address new issues and concerns.

Resources in the toolkit include legislative tools such as how to provide personal testimony, lobby the general assembly, and correspond and meet with lawmakers. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) pesticide registration process, state preemption laws, fertilizer talking points, water conservation actions, and sample letters to your customers and media editors, to name a few, are also covered.

The toolkit also lists several helpful Web sites of other organizations such as Project EverGreen, the EPA, The Lawn Institute, National Pest Management Association, National Pesticide Information Center, and Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment (RISE).

Information in the toolkit will aid grassroots efforts. It will help green industry professionals stay on top of the issues and better respond to damaging, erroneous information. The information can be customized and used to fit a particular situation and issue.
