PLANET GRANTS PROVISIONAL FULL ACCREDITATION TO COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS

HERNDON, Va., December 2, 2008 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Accreditation team is charged with the responsibility and authority of on-site reviews and recognition of institutions of higher learning. The team is pleased to grant Provisional Full Accreditation to Colorado State University’s Landscape Design and Contracting Concentration and Landscape Business Concentration at the four-year Bachelor of Science degree level. The school’s accreditation status will continue until 2015, at which time another review will be required.

The PLANET Accreditation team visited Colorado State University, in Ft. Collins, Colorado, on October 12–14, 2008. The team consisted of team leader and Cochair Kent Hammond, associate professor emeritus, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, Wooster, Ohio; Cochair Edward Plaster, retired horticulture instructor, Dakota County Technical College, Rosemont, Minnesota; Greg Jolley, RLA, professor of landscape management, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah; and Randy Stoiber, area superintendent, ValleyCrest Landscape Development, Parker, Colorado.

PLANET’s Accreditation program recognizes landscaping curricula that meet the needs of the landscape industry and also serves to recognize four-year Bachelor of Science and two-year Associate of Science degree programs. Currently, 25 schools have programs that are PLANET accredited.
