The new brand name will speak clearly to consumers, be supported and used internationally, show credibility and commitment to best practices, and leave a lasting impression. In fact, the International Certification Council (ICC) has worked to align the PLANET certification program with national standards and follow a robust strategic planning initiative, resulting in this single, brandable title.

A: | | Can I still use the certification designations of CLT, CLP, behind my signature?
Yes, certified individuals may continue to use only CLP and CLT after their names (and CLD in Canada), but the preferred designation is Landscape Industry Certified Manager or Landscape Industry Certified Technician. Individuals are encouraged to use the new Landscape Industry Certified logo wherever possible to help increase exposure and awareness to consumers.

A: | | How does the new brand name affect my designation if I'm a COLP or CTP, etc.?
The goals for this brand are simple: speak to the end user by telling them you are in the landscape industry and that you are certified, and end the alphabet soup which should help everyone become more easily recognized. All certified individuals will be recategorized under Landscape Industry Certified either in the manager category or technician category. Current certification tests will be organized under manager or technician levels as well. Please refer to the chart above to see how your designation may change.

A: | | What if I have more than one kind of certification?
There are several instances where a person may have a combination of certification designations, and we recommend the following:
1) CLP, CTP, and/or CCLP = Landscape Industry Certified Manager
2) CLT, CTP-CSL, and/or COLP = Landscape Industry Certified Technician
3) If a person has a combination of designations from either 1 or 2 above, then use Landscape Industry Certified Manager & Technician

No acronym will ever be used - Landscape Industry Certified only.

Yes, but there will be a transition period in which the former test names will be referenced to help avoid confusion. For example:
