Earn the Certified Turfgrass Professional (CTP) designation by enrolling in the Principles of Turfgrass Management a distance-based, self-study certificate course offered through the University of Georgia. PLANET members receive a discount.

The self-study program has 14 lessons appropriate for all regions of the United States.  Candidates have 12 months to complete the course.

5.  Fertilization
6.  Mowing
7.  Irrigation
  (Take Proctored Exam #1 covering Lesson 1-7)

13. Turfgrass Trouble-shooting
14. Customer Relations
   (Take Proctored Exam #2 covering Lesson 8-14)

Both exams must be passed with a score of 70% or better.  Candidates arrange to take the exam at a nearby college or university.

Management of the Certification Program

The International Certification Council is comprised of eight leaders in the landscape contracting industry.  They represent a range of educational backgrounds and have sufficient years of experience to possess special expertise in landscape contracting to oversee the Certification program. 

Objectives of Professional Landcare Network’s Certification Program

• To raise the standards of the profession;
• To encourage self-assessment by offering guidelines for achievement;
• To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of principles and practices of the profession;
• To award recognition to those who have demonstrated a high level of competence in the profession;
• To improve performance within the profession by encouraging participation in a continuing program of professional development.
