Earn the Certified Turfgrass Professional (CTP) designation by enrolling in the Principles of Turfgrass Management a distance-based, self-study certificate course offered through the University of Georgia. PLANET members receive a discount.

The self-study program has 14 lessons appropriate for all regions of the United States.  Candidates have 12 months to complete the course.

1.  Turfgrass Growth, Development and Physiology
2.  Turfgrass Characterization, Identification and Adaptation
3.  Soils
4.  Establishment
5.  Fertilization
6.  Mowing
7.  Irrigation
  (Take Proctored Exam #1 covering Lesson 1-7)

8.  Weeds
9.  Insects
10.Turfgrass Diseases
11.Pesticides
12.Turfgrass and the Environment
13. Turfgrass Trouble-shooting
14. Customer Relations
   (Take Proctored Exam #2 covering Lesson 8-14)

Both exams must be passed with a score of 70% or better.  Candidates arrange to take the exam at a nearby college or university.

Management of the Certification Program

The International Certification Council is comprised of eight leaders in the landscape contracting industry.  They represent a range of educational backgrounds and have sufficient years of experience to possess special expertise in landscape contracting to oversee the Certification program. 

Objectives of Professional Landcare Network’s Certification Program
