Start Gearing Up for PLANET's Green Industry Conference (GIC)With Student Career Days right around the corner and the end-of-the-semester crunch quickly approaching, looking past the warm days of summer might not be the first thing on your mind. But, for those truly career-minded students, it’s not too early to begin planning for the largest and most extensive networking event of the year –– PLANET’s Green Industry Conference (GIC) to be held October 22–25, 2008, in Louisville, Kentucky. GIC is the premier educational event of the year for all involved in the green industry. This event offers the opportunity to attend dynamic sessions presented by experts throughout the industry, with topics ranging from improving your technical knowledge to expanding your business savvy. You can test cutting-edge equipment and products used by the most successful businesses throughout the country during hands-on demonstrations at GIE+EXPO (held in conjunction with GIC) and in the Outdoor Demo. Best of all, representatives from hundreds of green industry companies will be milling around the conference. For students looking to network their way into the industry, GIC is about as good as it gets. The Green Industry Conference is a networking opportunity for the experienced pro and fresh-faced rookies alike. Fortunately for students, the Student/Employer Roundtable Recruiting Session offers them the opportunity to sit down face-to-face with potential employers at a unique networking event designed specifically for GIC attendees still in school. During this session, a variety of green industry company representatives sit at different roundtables throughout a large reception room. Students are then given the chance to speak for 15 minutes with those reps at six separate roundtables of their choice. It’s a little like round robin speed-networking, and it’s a perfect chance to maximize your networking experience at the conference. Plus, company representatives usually hand out free giveaways, and there’s a more informal networking dinner preceding the roundtable session. This really is one of the best chances of the year to interact with potential employers who might be your next boss! With all of the opportunities that GIC provides, the event will certainly boost your green industry knowledge and connections. For students, this conference is the perfect way to get their feet wet and see how the industry comes together. The Student/Employer Roundtable Recruiting Session offers an unrivaled opportunity to meet and interact with people who are actively seeking new employees. And the city of Louisville is a great place to get out and have fun. PLANET hopes you mark your calendar for its largest event of the year. Return to March 2008 On Campus With PLANET |
