These workshops are provided as an additional educational experience for students and faculty. Students can earn one point towards their PLANET CDS certificate by attending any one morning and any one afternoon session. Registration is $10 per person, which includes one morning session, one afternoon session, and lunch. Participation in these workshops is not required in order to compete in the competitive events, but the workshop may be helpful in preparing the student for competition. Participation is limited due to space constraints, please register early. Workshop Topics3D Exterior Landscape Design Sponsored by Nemetschek North America Arboriculture Workshop Sponsored by ArborMaster Training and Husqvarna The Arboriculture Workshop will be a continuing program from the morning session to the afternoon session. There is no limit to the number of students/faculty that may participate per school or per session. Students that are interested in climbing during this workshop must attend both sessions and bring their own climbing gear (saddles and climbing lines) and personal protective equipment (hard hat, goggles, gloves, etc.) and wear appropriate climbing shoes and attire. Compact Excavator Operation Workshop Sponsored by John Deere Computer Aided Landscape Design Workshop Sponsored by DynaSCAPE Software The Computer Aided Landscape Design Workshop will offer instruction on computer aided landscape design with DynaSCAPE software. Estimating Workshop Sponsored by BRICKMAN and CoCal Landscape Services The Estimating Workshop will offer instruction on construction and maintenance cost estimating. Exterior Landscape Design Workshop Sponsored by Lied's Nursery Company Irrigation I & II Workshops Sponsored by Hunter Industries and The Irrigation Association Education Foundation The Irrigation Workshops will offer instruction on the various aspects of irrigation. The sessions will be repeated in the afternoon. Leadership Workshop Sponsored by JP Horizons The Leadership Workshop will present and illustrate effective leadership techniques applicable to the green industry. Students will have the opportunity to apply these techniques in leadership role-playing scenarios. Paver Workshop Sponsored by Pavestone Company The Paver Workshop will offer instruction on laying brick pavers. The session will be repeated in the afternoon. Sales Workshop Sponsored by Ariens/Gravely The Sales Workshop will present and demonstrate effective sales strategies and sales techniques. Students will have the opportunity to test their skills through role-playing scenarios. Skid Steer Workshop Sponsored by Caterpillar The Skid Steer Workshop will offer instruction on the safe operation of a skid steer. Some students may be allowed to operate the equipment. The session will be repeated in the afternoon. Small Engine Repair Sponsored by STIHL Inc. Truck & Trailer Workshop Sponsored by Ariens/Gravely This workshop will demonstrate the proper technique for loading and unloading equipment from a trailer, and provide safety guidelines. The session will be repeated in the afternoon. Woody Ornamental Plant Identification Workshop Sponsored by BRICKMAN The Woody Ornamental Plant Identification Workshop will offer instruction on identifying woody ornamental plants. |
