Government Affairs

PLANET's government affairs team works at the federal, state, and local levels of government to ensure that the laws and regulations by which green industry professionals must abide are reasonable and responsible. PLANET monitors state legislation and provides timely updates on pertinent legislation to members, while also helping members develop legislative strategies, talking points, and position papers.

Legislative Day on the Hill

Every July, PLANET convenes more than 400 green industry professionals for a day on Capitol Hill. This event allows members to engage in the legislative process and ensures that their voice is being heard by key legislators.

Online Legislative Action Center

PLANET offers our members the opportunity to participate in the legislative process remotely through our online Legislative Action Center. The PLANET Legislative Action Center contains useful resources such as:

• PLANET position statements
• Summaries on pending legislation affecting the green industry
• "Find Your Legislator" search engine
• Various sample constituent letters
• "State Issue" search engine
• Voter registration information

Political Action Committee

The PLANET PAC was created to help fund the legislative interests of the green industry. By contributing to the PAC, PLANET members help to elect pro-green industry congressional candidates who will listen to our concerns and represent our interests.

Industry/Workforce Development

PLANET is the leader in building and cultivating the future of the green industry. Our industry development team works in conjunction with horticultural programs and educational institutions across the country to develop and maintain programs, services, and events to ensure a bright future for those entering the green industry. We provide our member companies with venues to meet, network with, and recruit these future stars.

Student Career Days — March/April (location varies)

Every April, PLANET hosts the premier green industry recruiting event, PLANET Student Career Days. This three-day event provides our member companies the opportunity to see more than 1,000 of the best and brightest green industry students, showcasing their talents and skills through competitive, real-world events.

PLANET Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF)

PLANET's Academic Excellence Foundation, funded by the generosity of our member companies, was formed to provide academic assistance to promising students, hoping to pursue an education and future in the green industry. The foundation has grown each year and has provided more than 511 scholarships to students over the years.

PLANET Campus includes dozens of online resources to help green industry students and faculty to be more successful, including:
