“I know that certification is important. It was after I took the test [Landscape Industry Certified Manager] that this was really confirmed to me. The test is a legitimate test of knowledge for business topics, as well as tools that are extremely important to our industry. The amount of material covered is vast. Just by going through this process, I have become a better leader. I know that as staff gets certified, I will have better managers that understand the impact decisions have on our company's outcomes.”
--Michael McShane, Landscape Industry Certified Manager
“First off, RELAX! This test [Manager exam (CLP)] is a good activity to better yourself as a landscape professional. Why allow stress to take away from your studying? I carried the study materials with me in my truck. As I would have pockets of time in my day, I would read. Sometimes it was 10 minutes, sometimes it was an hour. As I drove around I would ‘talk over’ what I read to allow it to sink in. The day before the test, I paged through the books looking at headings and tables to review. If it was a topic I could not remember well, I would read it over again.”
-- Corey Truebenbach, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, Reliable Property Services, Eagan, Minn.
