| With more Certified Landscape Technicians (CLTs) on staff than any other landscape company in Colorado, “It’s about company pride and professionalism,” says Tim Emick, CLP, CLT, owner of Timberline Landscaping, Inc., in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Emick practices what he preaches as he recently tested at a PSI/LaserGrade facility and earned his second certification — the Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) designation. |
Many of Timberline’s employees have earned double and even triple CLT designations in maintenance, installation, and irrigation. Says Emick, “Education and training are a vital part of the future of our business. The CLT program is the centerpiece of a well-run training program and is another way of raising the bar of expectation at our company. This also separates us from our competition.”
Doug Austen and Judd Bryarly also received their CLPs. Like Emick, Bryarly took advantage of the PSI/LaserGrade testing facility to complete his CLP. “It was easy registering online,” states Bryarly. “The location was very convenient, and it accommodated our schedules.”
At Timberline, continued education is a big plus, allowing the individuals to grow within the company and the industry. “Many of our employees also have additional certifications (i.e., IA Irrigation Auditor, Certified Backflow Testing, and Quality Supervisor from the Colorado Department of Agriculture), Emick points out. “Our customers can have the confidence that their project will be completed to their specifications as well as to the highest standards of the green industry.” Certification is very good business for this company.
