PLANET RECOGNIZES NORTH AMERICAN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH WEEK MAY 6-12
HERNDON, Va., May 2, 2012 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance partner, and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) invites communities, businesses and individuals to participate in North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week this May 6-12 in an effort to enhance workplace safety.
PLANET focuses on workplace safety by offering an extensive safety program for green industry service providers. PLANET recently launched a new interactive safety training module that is free and available in English or Spanish to anyone in the green industry. The program was funded by the Susan G. Harwood grant from OSHA and helps companies teach workers safe practices that meet OSHA standards.
PLANET also offers the STARS (Safety Training Achieves Remarkable Success) Safe Company Program, which helps educate green industry companies by helping to reduce hazards and injuries in their workplace. The STARS Safe Company Program is sponsored by CNA and JOHN DEERE.
“There are risks in every type of business everyday,” said Jim Martin, director of construction at CNA. “We support safety education in the green industry because a well-educated workforce is better able to identify and manage risks.”
