‘PLANET GIVES BACK,’ VOLUNTEER PUBLIC SERVICE PROJECT, RETURNS TO GREEN INDUSTRY CONFERENCE
HERNDON, Va., August 9 , 2012 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) will hold the second annual PLANET Gives Back project, a volunteer service event, Wednesday, Oct. 24, during this year’s Green Industry Conference (GIC) in Louisville, Kentucky.
“We are so proud to be back again for our second annual PLANET Gives Back,” says Glenn Jacobsen, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, PLANET President-Elect. “This event is another example of our members coming together to utilize their skills and resources to help beautify and give back to this great city of Louisville.”
PLANET will work with a group of approximately 50 PLANET member volunteers to enhance two facilities in downtown Louisville. This year, Engelhard Elementary School will be the main project site, with the focus being on building an outdoor classroom, general landscaping around the school grounds, and new this year, an added children’s component that will involve the school’s fourth grade students. Work at the second project site, Bridgehaven Mental Health Services, will include paver installation, installing an outdoor BBQ/picnic area, and general property maintenance.
