PLANET ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH 'COME ALIVE OUTSIDE'
HERNDON, Va., October 25, 2012 — PLANET, the national trade association for lawn and landscape professionals, today announced a partnership with JP Horizons to promote the "Come Alive Outside" movement which was started by JP Horizons to get the public excited about getting outdoors and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
Come Alive Outside is a grassroots program that will provide a platform - and all the necessary tools - for landscape contractors to engage in their communities in a way that they've never done before: through a combination of community service, outreach, educational, and recreational events. It will give PLANET members an opportunity to speak about the benefits that they, as landscape contractors, bring to the public, and it will engage youth, supporting PLANET's initiative to develop a strong and viable workforce for the future.
"PLANET is really excited by the idea of helping landscape companies engage the public and promote the idea of getting outside and enjoying great landscapes," said Norman Goldenberg, Landscape Industry Certified, PLANET president.
Inaugural Come Alive Outside events were held last year by JP Horizons in Chicago, Canada, and at an event for FFA and Kansas State students that was held at the same time as PLANET Student Career Days and sponsored by JOHN DEERE.
"We were happy to have the opportunity to work with students and Come Alive Outside to build awareness at the regional and national level of the importance of responsible landscape management that JOHN DEERE has had a role in developing," said Ken Taylor, Landscape Industry Certified, general manager - JOHN DEERE corporate business division.
PLANET will carry forth the Come Alive Outside initiatives in 2013 with the expertise and vision of JP Horizons and will help contractors share the battle cry to the public that, "Everybody wins when somebody goes outside!"
PLANET is the national trade association representing more than 100,000 landscape industry professionals, who create and maintain healthy, green living spaces for communities across America.
