Snowfighters Institute to hold its first forum on deicing and liability issues
The Snowfighters Institute, led by John Allin, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, will hold its first liability and deicing forum at its training facility in Erie, Pa., Oct. 1–4, 2012. Liability issues and their direct correlation to appropriate use of deicing materials make this a natural session for snow and ice management contractors to learn about both major challenges to the industry. 2012 Operating Cost survey winner is...
We recently conducted the 2012 Operating Cost survey from which the 2012 Operating Cost Study for the Green Industry report is generated. Along with a free confidential Profit Improvement Profile, each survey participant also has the opportunity to pre-purchase the final report at a reduced rate, and, this year, all who participated were entered in a drawing for a new iPad. Brandon Jones of Glen Gate Co. is 2012 APLD Landscape Designer of the Year
This dramatic pool and property renovation designed by Brandon Jones of Glen Gate Co., of Wilton, Conn., earned him the 2012 APLD Landscape Designer of the Year award. The client looked to update the existing pool and shed, as well as add a garden structure to provide shade and destination. The design concept draws from the sites existing architectural elements and defines the pool area through hardscape and plant materials in order to create a defined sense of a space, focal elements, and cohesion to other areas of the property. Engledow Group hires Brant Kercheval as Project Manager
Brant Kercheval, who joined the construction division as a project manager, will work alongside Rick Roberts, RLA, who has been with the company for more than 13 years. In his new role, Kercheval will primarily focus on bidding, estimating, and planning for new landscape construction projects. More

Ruppert acquires New River Landscape, Inc.
Ruppert Landscape, Inc. recently acquired New River Landscape, Inc., a Raleigh, N.C.-based company that provides commercial grounds management services for many of Raleigh’s prominent properties. The transaction includes the purchase of commercial landscape management contracts, trucks, and equipment and the hiring of employees. The commercial clients are primarily based in the counties of Wake, Orange, Durham, Robeson, and Guilford. More
